This past Saturday was shaping up to be a great day at the track. It was nice and warm, no rain in sight and the truck was fast right out of the trailer. In the first practice session after 15 minutes we were the second fastest truck and were just heading back on the track for some more laps to try and grab the top spot, but the disaster struck. The LA Weight Loss Silverado got loose coming out of turn 4 and nosed into the freshly painted wall right under the flag stand. The truck was still able to drive into the pits so we started to fix it up as quickly as we could as the clock was ticking. The 33 truck had a 2 point lead on us going into the day and we knew that if we were going to keep pace with him or take the lead, the truck would have to be perfect. After a long couple hours, we had the truck ready for hot laps. Once the truck got on the track it looked like it was as good as it was before it hit the wall. In qualifying we clocked in at a 15.13 and were good enough to hold the 3rd spot on the board out of 16 trucks. So for the heat races we were in the fast eight set of heat races. In the first heat race we were having a good run until we got squeezed down into the grass going into turn 3 and we ended up finishing in 7th. In the second heat race we started on the front row, and took the lead on the first lap and never looked back, taking the checkered flag. So going into the feature we had managed to get back to the two point deficit to the 33 truck. The feature was a great race and had lots of great battles going on all over the grid. On lap 80 we were in fourth spot and the 33 was in third, but coming down the front straight he got collected in a crash with the 88 truck and ended up going a lap down because of repairs to his rear bumper cover. We made a strong push to advance after that but ended up in third spot. Now going into the last race we have a 14 point lead over Jamie. Our next race will be on Saturday September 5th.
